Chris Redd @ The Den Theatre

Chicago's own Chris Redd is an incredibly talented comedian who has made audiences laugh for years. A proud graduate from Gregory Middle School and Neuqua Valley High School, Redd attended Elgin Community College, taking improvisational theater classes. He briefly pursued a career as a rapper but switched to sketch comedy and took comedy classes at Jokes & Notes. After starting his career at Chicago's famed Second City, it wasn't long before Chris caught the attention of industry insiders, and he landed a coveted spot on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." His unique style of humor, which blended irreverence with heart, quickly made him a fan favorite, and he's a co-creator, writer, and star of the scripted comedy series "Bust Down." Despite his success, Chris remained humble and grounded. He always remembered his roots, and he continued to perform at small clubs and venues, connecting with his audience on a personal level.

Last night, we enjoyed witnessing Chris Redd's talent at The Den Theatre on The Heath Mainstage. Redd's magnetic personality and comedic charm adding timely jokes that relate to his audience, like calling Brenda auntie after seeing the mother-like look on her face or asking couples humorous and intriguing questions, displays his ability to connect with others, providing non-stop laughter. The witty host Reg Thomas and the opener Matty Ryan were entertaining, but Redd had us laughing throughout the night.

The Den's floor-level mainstage provides up-close, intimate seating, which we recommend, as the stadium surround theater seating can make you feel disconnected from the on-stage act. They offered light snacks and alcoholic beverages, which you can order online before seating.  Chris will perform live shows on June 8-10, 2023, at 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, so make sure you get up this weekend and enjoy the laughter of Chris Redd.
